Knits belong in every season. And that fact is due to many reasons, two being that knits are undeniably made chic when styled with the right pieces, and as we'll get into later, comfortable clothing is just a given right and knits have never failed on that front. Here are seven essential knits for the spring season and beyond - and what to wear them with for ultimate comfort and style.
1. It's All In The Details

It's when comfort meets elegance that things get really interesting. This collared and buttoned body suit is the essential closet-piece for springtime. You can layer a cozy knit cardigan over-top or as the weather warms up, wear it solo with high-waisted matching trousers. We're all about matching sets this season - and this piece allows you to create your own; easily pair it with any pant like white flare jeans, or a mini skirt (also very much in style right now).
For accessories, Valeria has chosen to draw attention to the wrists since she's wearing the bodysuit fully buttoned-up, which doesn't leave room for necklaces. Watches, hand chains, and chunky rings are the preferred choice. It's a very professional yet trendy look that will carry you well past spring into summer and fall.
2. It's Called 'Spring Chic'

Spring season means brighter colors - I'm talking pink hues, pale greens, sky blue, and lilac purple. You want the knit to be center stage, so style it with neutral colors, specifically white. Valeria's wearing a white wide-leg trouser and matching t-shirt so the open cardigan is what draws the eyes. For accessories, go with the chunky gold jewelry trend which will be another element that pops.
3. Pretty In Patterns

We mentioned sky blue earlier, and it's never too late to take it one step further. This wide-rib knit fabric is the epitome of comfort, and the boxy silhouette makes it style seamlessly over looser fitting trousers (like what Valeria's wearing) or tighter skirts and dresses. For spring, look for specific details like a contrasting button that doesn't get lost in your cardigan's fabric. This look has a very chic, vintage, vibe. It's giving 1970's business woman and we're here for it.
4. Season-less Versatility

Everyone is all about the midi length this season. This style gives you the versatility of pairing this dress with ankle boots (like what Valeria's wearing below), strappy sandals, heels, or sneakers. If you've followed Valeria at all, you know she likes to invest in pieces that she can use in multiple contexts. This ribbed-fabric knit dress is easily styled for numerous occasions in any season - especially when footwear choice is ample. Wear it solo on warmer days, with a longer trench-style jacket on rainy days, or with a cropped cardigan for ultimate cozy comfort.

5. Evenings Out, Afternoons In

ALOHAS

Another must-have piece is the open-back black dress. It's rare that you find a piece that is comfortable from a fit and fabric standpoint, while at the same time being undeniably luxurious. I can picture myself in this dress on summer patios, at brunch dates, and at fanciful evenings out. For a more casual chic look, pair with loafers like Valeria did in the picture below, or go the full nine yards and pull on matching black heels.
One thing we both love about knits is that just because the fabric is softer, that doesn't mean you need to ditch it for the lighter spring and summer months. Throughout the '60s and '70s, impossibly cute strapless knit tube tops, sweater vests, t-shirts, and dresses were all the rage. There's a reason they're back in style. As you may have caught on so far in this article - you should never sacrifice comfort to obtain that chic look.

6. Knit, Meet Slit

ALOHAS

The slit skirt is the envy of fashion-lovers everywhere. When someone wears a slit, they are here to slay - there's no question of that. From the legendary Angelina Jolie 2012 Oscars slit dress to the Dior-made-famous pencil skirt style, the combination of the two is positively lethal.
Quick note on pencil skirts: the inspiration for a hemmed-below-the-knee style skirt for women was first introduced in 1908, when the first woman passenger boarded an airplane. The Wright brothers brought Edith Berg on their plane, and worried her long skirt may get caught in machinery (things were a bit more dicey in terms of engineering back then), they tied a cord around her skirt slightly below her knees (Racked). Cut to the 1940's, when Dior scrapped the popular ruffle style at the time for the clinging pencil skirt design we know and love, cementing the style in 1954 with his H-Line collection.
Pencil skirts allowed women to show off our beautiful curves, but thank you to the slit for comfort (tying it back to our theme), because the initial slit on the back of the skirt added breathability and flexibility so we could walk easier - we do suffer for our fashion, don't we?

This deep emerald-colored piece from ALOHAS is perfect for spring garden parties, business meetings, or winter getaways. The slit grants you the elegance needed for more formal affairs, and the knit fabric gives you that blessed comfort. (The women of the 1950's who championed comfortable skirt styles would be so proud!)
7. The Ultimate Essential - A Chunky Cardy
Logan Cardigan,
Edited
The cropped cut of this cardigan pairs perfectly with high-waisted bottoms or mini-skirts. You could wear this piece with collared shirts, turtlenecks, scoop neck tops, or lacy bralettes.
Just remember, when considering what pieces to invest in that give you versatility, comfort, and the opportunity to absolutely slay - don't rule out knits because it's warmer out. They're the ultimate essential when putting together a killer (comfortable) outfit.
