3 Activewear Outfits For When You're Not Sweating

Not Your Grandma's Pearls Reading 3 Activewear Outfits For When You're Not Sweating 3 minutes Next 3 Reasons SPF is the MVP For Summer
Activewear has graduated from its strict status as gym attire to full blown staples. Fashion has finally permitted our most comfortable, form-fitting pieces into our everyday looks and we couldn’t be happier about it. Styling activewear may seem tricky, but it’s all about the simple add-ons that transform your gym fit into a brunch one.

First things first: start with a neutral palette. Investing in a range of high quality, neutral-toned activewear is the key to your comfortably fashionable future. You may be tempted by the loud neons and exciting prints (they do have a way of inspiring our best in the gym), but for the purposes of putting together street-ready looks, we suggest you steer clear. Another factor to consider is the material. Ultra-compression and high sheen can clash with your casual favorites. While you may require more support for your HIIT class, you don’t need as much for grabbing a coffee. Keep things comfy with soft, seamless garments or ribbed texture and then you’ll truly forget you’re wearing leggings.

With this in mind, here are our top three not-so-sporty active ensembles.

Little Shorts, Big Shirt

We’d argue that the oversized, button-down cotton shirt is your wardrobe’s greatest superpower and this look is proof. No matter what active set you’ve got on, throwing on a borrowed-from-the-boys shirt is the easiest way to elevate. Pair with low profile, bright white sneakers or statement slides depending on your mood.

Cardigan Cozy

For those of us in mild climes, cardigans last far past the spring and into cloudy days. Pair a sports bra and bike short with your biggest knits and boldest sneakers for a combo that feels a little sexy and a lot cozy.

Light Touch

When a full set isn’t calling you, incorporate a single piece into your outfit for a blended high-low feel. Our preferred method of mixing is substituting a tank with a seamless bra or subbing a trouser with a legging. Suiting and activewear are the unexpected pairing that elevates your off-duty look. Pro-tip: avoid over exposure with a high-waist pant and a casual blouse.
